The Butcher's Bill by Tom LaBelle Sponsored by Globe |
Tom LaBelle currently serves as a Lt. with the Wynantskill, N.Y., Fire Department and is a third generation firefighter, first generation volunteer. He has been employed by the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs since 1995. Prior to joining NYSAFC, Lt. LaBelle served as the Legislative Director for the New York State Assembly’s Sub Committee on Fire Protection Services. Tom provides support for career and volunteer departments from the nations largest to smallest. He currently sits on the Fire Advisory Board of Thompson/Delmar Learning. The column title, "The Butcher's Bill," originates from the British military, which after a battle would evaluate the success of their campaign. First, they would see if they had met their overall strategic objective. Then, they would review their tactics; most notably they would look at the numbers killed and wounded. They referred to this as "The Butcher's Bill." Tom can be reached via email at Tom.Labelle@FireRescue1.com.
Contact Tom LaBelle with any comments or questions via email at Tom.Labelle@FireRescue1.com.
