Pa. firefighter dies after Fourth of July rescue

Additional Info: Volunteer firefighter Eric J. Olson is survived by a wife and two daughters.

Incident Details

Cause of Death: Olson collapsed a day after performing a water rescue.

Date of Incident: July 5, 2006


U.S. Fire Administration

Firefighter Olson responded to a river rescue incident the afternoon of July 4th, 2006. He collapsed while at work the following morning and passed away a short time later from a heart related cause.

A memorial fund has been set up for Olson with the Childrens Education Fund care of Heintzelman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 196, Schnecksville, PA 18078-0196
