CALERA, Ala. -- Citizens in Calera are mourning the death of one of their firefighters. 25-year-old Christopher James Roy was killed Monday morning when a fire truck he was driving slammed into an 18-wheeler.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. near Shelby County 87 and the Interstate 65 South exit ramp.

Calera Fire Chief Tommy Moon said at the time of the crash Roy was responding to an emergency call.
