Funeral for Waynesville, N.C., firefighter to be held Saturday

WAYNESVILLE, N.C. — Friends and family of a Waynesville firefighter who died Sunday will gather this weekend to pay their respects.

Wayne Yarborough had 38 years on the job, said Chief Bill Fowler today.

He died at home after responding to a brush fire near Caviler Arms Apartments on March 5. He will be listed as a firefighter who died in the line of duty because he died immediately following the fire.
