Minn. firefighter collapses, dies en route to fire

Duty Death: Jeremy Jylka - [Pine City, Minnesota]


PINE CITY, Minn. — A Minn. firefighter died Tuesday afternoon en route to a wildland fire.

Jeremy Jylka, 34, of the Pine City Fire Department, was on board a fire apparatus when he collapsed and became unresponsive.

Another firefighter began CPR and Firefighter Jylka was transported by ambulance to the local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Firefighter Jylka joined the fire department last year.
