N.Y. fire police officer dies on duty


Duty Death: David Meron - [Hoosick Falls, New York]

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. — Hoosick Falls Fire Department Policeman David Meron died over the weekend while responding to multiple alarms for transformer problems caused by a thunderstorm, according to Chief Ted Senecal.

Meron was found unresponsive in his vehicle Sunday night, Senecal said. Meron was taken to the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death is not yet known, nor is the exact time, Senecal said.

Meron had been a member of the department since March. Before that, he had been a member of the Pittstown Fire Department.
