Fire Chief
(Starting Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000)
The Town of South Padre Island is seeking a Fire Chief to provide management and direction for the Fire Department. Performs a variety of technical, administrative, and supervisory work in planning, organizing, directing, and implementing fire prevention, suppression and emergency medical services to prevent or minimize the loss of life and property by fire and emergency medical services. In addition, the Fire Chief performs all duties and responsibilities of the Town Emergency Management Coordinator.
Applicants must posses a four (4) year degree from an accredited college in fire science, public administration or a closely related field, and seven (7) years of experience in fire service work. Substantial experience and training may be considered for equivalency for some portion of the degree requirement. Three (3) years of service must have been in the rank of fire lieutenant or higher, and completion of the Fire Basic Training Academy or equivalent. Must also posses EMT-B certification.
