| The City of Billings has a unique and exciting opportunity to live and work in a community of the highest caliber. Billings is the largest city in Montana, with a population of 103,000. In addition to its natural beauty and abundance of outdoor activities, Billings enjoys a steady economy and serves as the regional center for trade, transportation, finance, education and medical care. The City is seeking a seasoned and dynamic fire services professional to manage fire prevention, fire suppression and the communications center for the city. Along with prevention and suppression, the department also provides pre-hospital emergency response at the EMT-D level; hazardous materials incident response; technical rope rescue; and other fire prevention activities including code enforcement, public education, and fire cause investigation. The department is staffed with 103 paid personnel and operates with an annual budget of approximately $13.9 million. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, motivated leader with strong interpersonal skills and a successful track record in managing a fire service team. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong communication and negotiation skills and the ability to successfully support a growing community. Experience and minimal qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and a total of twelve or more years of combined education and experience in the areas of Personnel management, fire suppression and prevention and incident command. Experience with city government and knowledge of department and function operations is required. A Master’s degree, or equivalent, is preferred. Salary range is $76,211 to $97,260 plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental and a retirement plan within MPERA. A detailed brochure is available at www.cps.ca.gov/search.
