Job Description
|
| The City of Ottawa, Kansas, a growing community approximately 30 minutes southwest of the Kansas City Metro area, is seeking highly motivated individuals for the position of Firefighter/EMT. The Firefighter/EMT duties include protection of life and property by combating, extinguishing and preventing fires, and providing EMT care where needed. An employee in this class performs specialized firefighting duties under emergency conditions, frequently involving considerable physical danger. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the supervising officer, but requires thorough individual understanding of firefighting methods and EMT duties.
This is an entry-level position and prior experience in firefighting is not required but is preferred. Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well after six months in the position. This individual MUST have National and/or Kansas EMT certification at time of application.

| HOURS: 24 Hour shift, 212 hours every 28 days.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: MUST be a Franklin County resident within one year of employment.
