| Area Information: Florence was established in 1866. Florence is in Pinal County midway between Phoenix and Tucson. The Florence business district is still on Main Street and, aside from the obvious improvements, downtown remains much as it must have been in the 1880's. Both visitors and residents appreciate the diversity of the community. Florence offers the convenience and lifestyle available in a small western community, yet is only 45 minutes away from the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas. Incorporated in 1908, Florence, at an elevation of 1,493 feet has been the county seat since its formation in 1875.
Department Information: The Chief of the Florence Fire Department is Dennis Hixon who began with the Florence Fire Department in December of 2004. Chief Hixon heads a department of over 20 full time employees, several part time recruits and two separate stations. The Florence Fire Department provides Fire, ALS & BLS services, Haz Mat coverage, fire prevention and public education programs for the Town of Florence. The Florence Fire Department serves a population of approximately 26,000 and 70 square miles. The Department responded to 1,688 calls in 2007.

Age 18Education High School Grad/GEDExperience Fighter I & II required and Arizona State EMT certification required
Additional Requirement :
Current CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) - Passing Score;
Fire Team Test at National Testing Network - Passing Score;
US Citizen;
Valid ARIZONA State Driver's License at time of Appointment;
Ability to Read, Write and Speak the English Language;
Correctable Vision;
ALL Applicants MUST fill out a National Testing Network job application form AS WELL AS a Florence Fire Department Application Form.
