Chief warns victims of apartment fire against lingering chemicals in belongings

HUNTINGTON — Jerry Comer was one of the more fortunate tenants who lived in the Emmons apartment building.

Not only was he unharmed after Saturday night’s fire, but most of the belongings from his fifth-floor apartment in the Emmons Sr. building were OK, though a little smoky.

It took him four trips — with friends helping — to get his clothes out of the building.
