Ga. dept. to donate apparatus to Sandy-ravaged NY crew

The fire engine will go to the volunteer firefighters of Island Park, NY

ROSWELL, Ga. — We've all seen some of the devastation and suffering parts of New York and New Jersey suffered from Hurricane Sandy a couple of weeks ago.

What some may not know is that many local fire departments in those areas suffered as well, including the volunteer department in the small town of Island Park, New York.

"The department there is really in a bad way; they lost almost every piece of equipment...in their fire house," Mike Korsch told 11Alive News on Thursday.
