Firefighters pull two children from burning home

The children's mother was unable to get them out of the house when the fire broke out

By FireRescue1 Staff

RICHLAND COUNTY — Firefighters saved two children from a burning home Tuesday afternoon.

Columbia –Richland Fire Department firefighters were en route to the fire when they learned that children were trapped on the home's second floor, according to the State.

The mother said she was not able to get them out of the house, but was able to get her two other children out to safety.

Firefighters searched the upstairs bedroom and found the children and pulled them to safety.

The children were transported to the hospital.

An initial investigation found that the fire started because of unattended cooking in the kitchen.
