DES PLAINES, Ill. — Retired Des Plaines Fire Lieutenant Michael Copeland and Firefighter/Paramedic Robert Prieto were the recent recipients of the 100 Club of Chicago's prestigious Award of Valor for their heroic rescue of a young child and his grandmother from a basement fire in December 2011.
The presentation was made by Des Plaines Fire Chief Alan Wax at an awards ceremony, sponsored by the 100 Club of Chicago, on the evening of Nov. 8, at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza Hotel, Chicago.
