CHARLESTON, S.C. — Charleston fire officials are expected to investigate a fire in the home of a former CCFD captain.

Monday, fire heavily damaged a West Ashley house occupied by family of late Fire Capt. Mike Benke, who died in Sofa Superstore fire.

The Charleston Fire Department responded to a fire on Eve Circle just before 7:00 p.m. Monday night after neighbors called 911. No one was inside at the time, but a family dog was killed.
