Fire damages Ore. roofing company

The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. — A three-alarm fire has heavily damaged Buckaroo Thermoseal, a long-established roofing and siding business in industrial Northeast Portland.

The Portland Fire Bureau said 80 firefighters from Portland and Gresham battled the blaze, which was burning heavily in the 100-by-200-foot building when the first units arrived Wednesday morning.

The only evacuations were from areas immediately surrounding the fire. Neighboring businesses were closed temporarily to ease access to the fire.

No cause or damage estimate has immediately been determined. The column of black smoke was visible for miles.

Firefighters worked around falling power lines, trucks that had to be moved and a 5,000-gallon diesel tank near the fire.
