Fog stream ventilation

Based on hydraulic principles, fog streams are an effective short-term ventilation tactic. Here's how you can use fog streams:

  • Start as quickly as possible after extinguishment
  • Remove the glass from the window opening completely
  • Position the stream so the fog pattern covers most of the window opening
  • Place the nozzle about two feet from the window frame and open the nozzle in a wide fog pattern
  • Take note of the movement of smoke in the immediate area and adjust the distance of the fog nozzle from the window until the smoke moves

Make sure you avoid using this method if items that need protection are going to be damaged, including other buildings. Fog streams also should not be used in freezing weather because ice formation can occur.
