CBS Chicago's Walter Jacobson took a break from his usual political analysis to talk about Chicago Fire Capt. Herbert Johnson, whose funeral was Thursday.
"We owe his memory, and his fellows, some payback — and the respect of a new contract. They've been saving lives without a contract for four and a half months," Jacobson said.
Jacobson said that City Hall, by "skimping on a contract" are aiming to take away firefighter clothing allowance and holiday pay.
Capt. Johnson died last week while fighting a house fire.
