Firefighters help rebuild 'Santa's' house

The Santa House, a Christmas fixture, needed repairs so firefighters stepped up to help fix it

By Susan Sarkaukas
Chicago Daily Herald

CHICAGO — Santa Claus will have a safer place to stay in Geneva, thanks to Geneva firefighters and several businesses.

The firefighters built a new roof for the Santa House. Claus will begin receiving guests at his abode at Third and James streets at 6 p.m. Dec. 7, after the Christmas tree is lit at the Christmas Walk.

Lou Jordan Lou Jordan Wednesday, December 12, 2012 6:17:43 PM As the Santa to two towns I ride the engine three nights do two tree lightings, visit the rehab center and the cub scouts....17 engagements a season. It is all volunteer and we give free photos to the kids if their folks don't have a camera. In 50+ years in emergency services I have see enough grief and sadness. The Santa gigs bring smiles and happiness to many kids, and a few adults as well. I think thet the support that was given to the folks of Geneva by the Firefighters will be a reward that they will see in the eyes of the children that get to visit in his refurbished house. Congratulations guys, from one Santa's helper to a group of Santa's helpers that are the Firefighters of Geneva.
