By FireRescue1 Staff

NEW ORLEANS — A convenience store worker who booted an ambulance while crews were inside the store tending to a patient has been cited and fired.

Ahmed Sidi Aleywa was issued a citation by New Orleans police for simple criminal damage and was terminated from his job at Mr. Quicky's convenience store, according to WWLTV.

Sidi Alewya put a boot on the ambulance Friday while crews were helping a man inside the store who has having a life-threatening medical problem.

A police report said that Side Alewya didn't realize that he had booted an ambulance and added that he doesn't speak English.

Jim Carley Jim Carley Tuesday, December 04, 2012 6:10:31 PM he's a lying POS? He knew what he was doing. This is my biggest problem no speaky english.. well that's why we need a law to make ENGLISH our OFFICIAL language and that's why anyone who comes to this country must enroll in courses until they speak fluently or they don't get a citizenship.
Nina Wenzel Acosta Nina Wenzel Acosta Tuesday, December 04, 2012 6:11:51 PM Where did he think the paramedics inside the store came from? What prompted him to boot the ambulance in the first place?
Chuck Fager Chuck Fager Tuesday, December 04, 2012 6:27:35 PM Gertrude Bauer, he didn't say anything about not allowing imigrants into the country. He stated that they should learn to speak the English language. Maybe reading comprehension isn't your strong suit.
Dusty Haglund Dusty Haglund Tuesday, December 04, 2012 6:30:58 PM Short him some money and you will find out real fast how well he really speaks English.
Divyne Apollon Divyne Apollon Tuesday, December 04, 2012 6:34:07 PM well Chuck if you don't get your citizenship in this country, then by law you'd have to actually Jim was implying they would have to learn English or no longer be here
Andy Hogencamp Andy Hogencamp Tuesday, December 04, 2012 6:40:08 PM I call B.S. on this one!
Chuck Fager Chuck Fager Tuesday, December 04, 2012 6:58:21 PM Last I checked, there is a process, by which an immigrant obtains his/her citizenship. It is not something just handed out at the border when they pass through. What Jim is actually infering, is that learning basic English should be mandated in that process. While, there is some validity that a person not meeting the requirements for citizenship would be deported and allowed to apply again after a waiting period, you are clearly reading too much into it. The simple fact of the matter is, that this individual should as a basis know, and be able to recognize Emergency vehicles. This should hold especially true when they are responding to an emergency in the store with which you are employed. If you are willing to come to this country, work hard, earn American money, pay American taxes, and utilize all of the benefits afforded to you here in this country, you should at the very least learn the language and moreover be able to differentiate between an ambulance with its emergency lights on and the average personal vehicle. Incidently, if that patient's life was in the balance and the clock was ticking down on the "Golden Hour", that boot would have contributed to a more dire situation, possibly a liability issue, maybe a civil or wrongful death suit. When it is thought of in those terms, learning the language as well as the consequences of his actions might not be so bad after all. By the way, I am not a Native American, so Gertrudes's statement holds true for me.
Tyler Anderson Tyler Anderson Tuesday, December 04, 2012 7:18:41 PM Oh of course he didn't know. They just put those lights on ambulances so they can blend in at disco night... They mean nothing, really.
Jim Reynolds Jim Reynolds Tuesday, December 04, 2012 7:19:41 PM Chuck Fager - if you were a Native American you'd be speaking one of a hundred different languages. Cherokee, Apache, Seminole, etc. Not English...
Terry Moody Terry Moody Tuesday, December 04, 2012 11:38:08 PM Bet he will be able to speak English and understand when he files for his unemployment,
Ray Fontaine Ray Fontaine Wednesday, December 05, 2012 2:42:35 AM I agree with most of you guys and girls But since when can a convenient store person become allowed to even boot any vehicle?
Jessica Brusseau Jessica Brusseau Wednesday, December 05, 2012 4:19:01 AM The PT should take him to court and the ambulance company should take him to court! What a POS!
Lisa Ferreira Lisa Ferreira Wednesday, December 05, 2012 4:23:38 AM He should b fired. There is so much wrong with that.
Greg Jeppson Greg Jeppson Wednesday, December 05, 2012 5:03:56 AM Send his AS# back DOn't COME TO THE USA unless you can speak ENGLISH.
Alan Brooks Alan Brooks Wednesday, December 05, 2012 5:31:17 PM How so you miss the shiny lights no english isn't an excuse
Mel Maguire Mel Maguire Wednesday, December 05, 2012 7:51:09 PM Gertrude, nobody has any issue at all with people immigrating. We just want them to do it legally - and actually integrate into our society rather than living in cultural enclaves where they never have to assimilate. It would be no different if one of us went to their country to live and work.
Mel Maguire Mel Maguire Wednesday, December 05, 2012 7:53:44 PM I'd be willing to bet they parked incorrectly (as we tend to do when we arrive on scene) directly in front of the entrance so they'd have easy access. The cashier probably saw the rig parked that way and, without asking, just went and put the boot on.
Wednesday, December 05, 2012 9:47:45 PM Name said it all!
John Greenaway John Greenaway Wednesday, December 05, 2012 11:22:18 PM They should deport this person back to where he came from with a tattoo saying I'm Dumb ass in english. I you read this comment maybe we should push for English to be the offical language in the USA to work or live here,
Sheryl Dee Williams Memorial Sheryl Dee Williams Memorial Thursday, December 06, 2012 10:22:02 AM Finally! Some sanity in this I would have liked a charge of interference also, but maybe the idiot will "get it" now
Chuck Fager Chuck Fager Saturday, December 08, 2012 6:51:29 PM Jim Reynolds- Did you misinterpret something I said? Gertrude said "if it wasn't for imigration you probably wouldn't be a citizen. As I am not a Native American (Indian) I was born in New Jersey.... Of Irish and Puerto Rican ancestry.... It holds true for me! I am however, a native born U.S. Citizen....
Craig Prager Craig Prager Sunday, December 09, 2012 7:53:33 PM BULLCRAP! How could he know how to handle money and get cigarettes, for instance, if he didn't know English. They should have checked this clowns immigration status!
