Pioneer Press

SCANDIA, Mich. — Some 50 fire vehicles from all over the region joined in the funeral cortege for Scandia Fire Capt. John Larson as it passed through Stillwater, headed for Rutherford Cemetery on Thursday, March 7.

John Larson, 42, of Marine on St. Croix died from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident. The accident occurred just after 6 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, as Larson, heading east on Minnesota 36 in a compact Saturn, was turning north on Manning Avenue on a green arrow.

As he was turning, he was struck by a Dodge Caravan driven by Kenneth A. Tougaw, 40, of Bayport, who was headed west on Minnesota 36. The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
