Mo. firefighter dies battling house fire

Duty Death: Henry "Jay" Branscum - [Cairo, Missouri]


CAIRO, Mo. — A Missouri firefighter died Saturday while battling a house fire.

Northeast R-4 Rural Fire Association Firefighter Henry "Jay" Branscum, 32, was working at the scene of a multiple structure fire in Cairo when he suffered an unknown medical condition.

Firefighter Branscum leaves behind a wife and a stepson.

A funeral is tentatively set for Thursday in Moberly, Mo.

An honor guard, casket vigil and trucks are requested for the services, and assistance can be directed through Firefighter Dustin Sears at 660-833-8789.
