WEST ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Louis Berra, a paramedic-firefighter with the West County EMS and Fire Protection District, was found dead Friday morning in the bedroom of a firehouse at 13790 Manchester Road.

Berra, 48, was an avid runner and normally woke early to go for his morning jog. When his colleagues noticed he wasn't awake, they checked his room and found him collapsed there. No cause of death has been determined.

Berra had been with the district for 11 years, and had earlier been with the Frontenac Fire Department for 12 years. He is survived by his wife and two teenaged children.
