NFPA Certification Department Teaming Up With Schroeder Measurement Technologies to Expand Certification Delivery

September 19, 2012 – The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Certification Department announced today that it is teaming up with Schroeder Measurement Technologies (SMT) to increase the geographic availability of its Certified Fire Inspector I certification examinations.

Through its sister company, Iso-Quality Testing (IQT), SMT maintains a testing center network of carefully selected partners, including college/university testing centers and computer-related businesses to provide testing services in a secure, proctored environment. Testing centers are available in over 300 cities in 19 countries.

"Previously we offered only paper-based examinations to a limited number of proctors and this new joint work with SMT provides our constituents with improved exam availability with hundreds of locations to choose from, and offers a more secure testing environment,” said Larry McDonald, certification project manager for NFPA.

"We are pleased with the results of our joint work with NFPA,” Sean Colton, director of IQT, said. “IQT is excited to enter this new phase of our ongoing partnership with NFPA. We look forward to providing CFI-1 candidates with increased opportunities to sit for their examinations at one of our exceptional testing centers throughout the United States. Providing candidates with an outstanding testing experience, which includes allowing candidates to schedule exams at convenient locations and times, is the primary goal for both NFPA and IQT.”

Details on the testing center locations are available on IQT’s website located at http://www.isoqualitytesting.com/locations.aspx.

The overall mission of the NFPA Certification Department is to enhance human and organizational performance as related to the use and application of NFPA codes and standards. NFPA offers four fire service professional credentials: Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II, Fire Plans Examiner, and their flagship program, Certified Fire Protection Specialist, the latter being accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
