Firefighter's truck stolen from Colo. party

The silver 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 has an emergency light bar, firefighting equipment inside and firefighter license plates

BOULDER, Colo. — Boulder police are looking for a stolen truck equipped with emergency lights, that was taken Monday night from one of Lefthand Fire Protection District's volunteer firefighters while he was at a party in Boulder.

The firefighter, whose name wasn't released, drove his silver 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 — which has an emergency light bar, firefighting equipment inside and Colorado firefighter license plates — to a party in the 400 block of Manhattan Drive about 7 p.m. Monday, detective Sgt. Melissa Kampf said.

At about 8 p.m., he went to use the bathroom and left his keys on a table, Kampf said. When he returned, the keys were gone and so was his truck, she said. He walked around the neighborhood looking for the vehicle before calling his wife, who picked him up at a nearby gas station, Kampf said.

The truck, which had a full set of firefighting gear in the cab, has not been located.

"The biggest concern would be someone driving around with an emergency light bar, and pulling people over falsely," Kampf said.

Police have no suspects at this time. The truck's license plate number is 1999OWJ.
