"He only had a couple of weeks left to come home," Firefighter Farrar said.

Had he not left his PPE for other firefighters to clean, Firefighter Farrar may have never noticed the image.

The other firefighters told Firefighter Farrar that his brother must have had his back when he responded to a recent house fire in which all residents and firefighters left the scene unharmed.

"It's just a mark on jacket," Firefighter Farrar said.

"It isn't something that will be there forever, but to me the memory of him will be. That's what matters."
