APCO Applauds Verizon

WASHINGTON — The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International today applauded Verizon Wireless following their announcement that they have satisfied the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) requirement that at least 95 percent of their customers' handsets be equipped with Enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) capability.

"APCO International is pleased that Verizon has achieved this important benchmark," APCO International President Wanda McCarley said. "We look forward to working with Verizon and other wireless carriers as they continue moving forward towards full E9-1-1 deployment."
