Physio-Control and IAFC Announce Call for Applications: Heart Safe Community Programs Awards

Redmond, WA - Physio-Control and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), EMS Section, will sponsor three awards to recognize Fire EMS Systems that are helping their communities be more Heart Safe. Awards will be presented during the Fire Rescue Med Conference in Las Vegas on April 21-23, 2008.

The deadline for application is March 21, 2008. For detailed application information visit www.iafc.org and click on IAFC Awards Programs and then Heart Safe Community Programs.  Applications should be submitted to awards@iafc.org,. Previous winners of the Heart Safe Community Award are eligible to resubmit entries.

Two Heart Safe Community PAD Program Awards will be given to systems that have used creative approaches to implement and/or manage public access defibrillation programs within the communities they serve, one for large communities (population over 100,000) and another for small/midsize communities (population up to 100,000).

A third STEMI Awareness Community Program Award will be given to a system that has implemented a community program to build STEMI (ST segment elevation myocardial infarction) awareness in their community.

Award recipients will receive:

  1. Admission and travel expenses for two to the Fire-Rescue Med Conference
  2. A crystal trophy and
  3. LIFEPAK® CR Plus AED Trainers

Award recipients will also be required to submit a short description of their community program for presentation during opening ceremonies and may have their stories featured in future white papers and case studies to help promote best practices and the future awards programs.
