The United States Flag. Colors of Honor flew over the Texas State Capital while the United States was under attack on September 11, 2001. To honor the nation, the flag was given to Chris Heisler who organized officers from around the nation to transport the flag along with flags from other states to New York City in the longest police motorcade in U.S. history.
At the end of its journey in 2001, officers and Honor Guard presented flags from around the nation to the Governor of New York at New York Police Headquarters and the flag flew during memorial services and World Trade Center recovery efforts. Family members of fallen first responders then requested that this single flag act as a symbol to honor all American heroes. It has since traveled across the world to wherever American soldiers are stationed in the war on terror and proudly flies in continuous tribute.
