South Carolina Emergency Management Agency Standardizes on AreaRAE Wireless Sensor Networks

SAN JOSE, CA – RAE Systems Inc. (AMEX: RAE), a leading global provider of rapidly deployable sensor networks that enable customers to identify safety and security threats in real time, today announced the South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SC-EMD) has standardized on AreaRAE wireless toxic gas monitors for its state wide emergency response programs. SC-EMD develops response plans and coordinates federal, state, and local resources for mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery operations in order to save lives and reduce property loss. RAE Systems equipment was selected after a head-to-head competitive demonstration and capabilities review. The state is now standardizing on AreaRAE compatible equipment to aid in data interoperability and mutual aid response.

“SC-EMD’s decision to standardize on RAE Systems’ products validates our leadership role in providing interoperable wireless monitoring solutions,” said Doug Mayer, RAE Systems' South East Regional Manager. “South Carolina's response agencies fully understand the need to integrate complementary third party equipment into the state’s wireless detection device network and SC-EMD’s use of AreaRAE Rapid Deployment Kits will complement those solutions already in place within the South Carolina State and Local Emergency Responder communities. As such, this deployment provides comprehensive readiness for agency interoperability and is critical to the overall state’s emergency response capabilities.”

Five Emergency Management Division teams are currently equipped with AreaRAE Rapid Deployment Kits (RDK) in addition to the South Carolina Urban Search and Rescue, South Carolina National Guard Civil Support Teams and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. In addition, many city and county fire response agencies have AreaRAE and wirelessly enabled MultiRAE Plus five-gas detectors in their response inventories.
