The Globe Family of Brands launched its 2008 theme “Globe is the Solution” at the Fire Department Instructor Conference which was held again in Indianapolis, Indiana this year. With nearly 30,000 firefighters in attendance, Globe was the star of the show! Returning again as the Platinum Sponsor of the FDIC, Globe had a huge presence in and around the Convention Center. From the moment the doors to the Exhibit Hall opened, the Globe booth was flooded with curious firefighter customers. Globe asked “Got a PPE Problem?” and then provided visitors with a range of innovative solutions. Within the Globe booth there were 12 different stationshighlighting problems that firefighters typically face with their current PPE.
One of the busiest stations addressed the problem “Stiff, poor-fitting boots hurt your feet and your performance”. Thousands of firefighters tried on a variety of Globe FootGear NFPA compliant boot styles (including the new Emergency Series duty boots) based on a unique contoured and cushioned cement construction which delivered unprecedented athletic performance.
Another traffic-stopping station provided a unique solution to the problem “You need a lightweight, no-hassle, all-purpose harness”. A fire department instructor was on hand to show how the Globe Cairns IH pants could be used everyday including use with ladders, as a tool to facilitate rescue of a downed firefighter in conjunction with a Drag Rescue Devise, and as a bailout harness.
Also making its debut at FDIC 2008 was Globe’s new G-XCEL turnout system which provides performance at an affordable price by incorporating many of the innovative design features found in our high-end gear and built to Globe’s legendary quality standards.
In addition to being the FDIC Platinum Sponsor, Globe also sponsored two other events during the week. The H.O.T. Instructor Dinner event brings together all of the instructors that provide Hands OnTraining to the firefighters during the many hours of training that bring so many firefighters to this event in Indianapolis each year. And Globe, together with its supplier partners (TenCate, PBI, Gore, and DuPont), sponsored the biggest block party in the fire service – the Indianapolis Metropolitan Professional Firefighters Local 416 FDIC Open House. This event welcomed more than 6,000 firefighters with entertainment (pumper pull, firehouse museum, bagpipes, and a rock band), food (hamburgers and hot dogs for an army), and beer (this year’s 100 kegs were a record)!
Once again, Globe was a huge success at the biggest fire service event of the year and had the opportunity to demonstrate to the many thousand of firefighters in attendance how “Globe is the Solution”.
