Raw Material Shortages Delay Delivery of Firefighter Turnout Gear

TenCate™ SouthernMills™ Helps Reduce Customer Delays.

ATLANTA - During 2005 aramid fiber materials were in short supply, causing delivery delays of thermal liners and firefighter turnout gear. Higher than expected demand from both the U.S. military and fire service industry for products containing aramid fiber resulted in supply shortages. An unexpected production issue with DuPont’s E-89® non-woven materials also caused delays.

These material shortages impacted availability of TenCate SouthernMills Caldura® platinum thermal liner fabrics the most. While TenCate SouthernMills regrets this situation, we are informing our customers about a solution.

TenCate SouthernMills has created a new version of Caldura® thermal barrier face cloth called Caldura silver. Customers experiencing delays should consult their suppliers about ordering Caldura silver or another thermal liner product that will shorten delivery delays.

We will provide all of our valued customers with detailed comparisons between the original product of choice and any replacement. We assure you that TenCate SouthernMills, its customers and suppliers are doing their best to resolve this situation.

For more information, please call TenCate SouthernMills at (800) 241-8630 or e-mail Guido Vliegen, vice-president of marketing, strategy and integration, at guidov@southernmills.com. Media inquiries may be directed to Tim Lee, at tlee@freeairn.com.
