Firefighters made a dramatic rescue from the top floor of burning building in Crown Heights Wednesday morning in a scene that looked like it was straight out of a movie.
Fire and heavy smoke spread to the upper floors of the Ebbets Field Houses in Crown Heights after flames were sparked in a trash compactor in the basement.
The fire forced one woman onto the ledge from the top floor of her apartment. Firefighters called to the scene rappelled down from the roof to pull her to safety, using safety ropes distributed by the FDNY after several firefighters were forced to jump from windows during a fire last year.
