Demand Pooling Enters Partnership With PROVISTA

Healthcare and Higher Education to join State and Local Governments to Improve Pricing for Purchases

DALLAS - Demand Pooling Global Services announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Provista, LLC. Based in Irving, Texas, Provista is a multi-industry group purchasing organization (GPO) serving more than 11,000 health care and higher education organizations across the nation.

The agreement provides opportunities for Provista customers to participate in the pooled purchases of certain capital equipment and commodities, orchestrated by Demand Pooling (www.depo.org). State and local governments, transportation agencies, airports, school districts and now, hospitals and universities, can combine their requirements for fuel, police vehicles, fire trucks, school buses, transit buses and a variety of other items in order to leverage their purchasing power and improve pricing for products not typically the subject of price discounts.

To participate in the pools, purchasers engage in a secure registration process, which enables them to upload or create their invitations for bids, store and recall frequently used documents, and arrange cost-effective financing or leasing for many products. In addition, customers can specify delivery requirements, and suppliers can bid on the pooled demand. The platform can be used free of charge by the governments.

“Provista is committed to providing dynamic and innovative solutions that deliver success for our customers,” said Russell Hall, Provista vice president of operations. “This new tool in our portfolio of services gives customers the ability to pool their big-ticket capital asset and commodity purchase needs while maintaining their own product specifications at a regional, national and even international level.”

“This relationship will allow Provista to offer new opportunities to their customers to deliver more affordable services to the healthcare and education industries,” said Richard K. Aland, chairman and chief executive officer of Demand Pooling. “Many of Provista’s customer interests are aligned with Demand Pooling’s customers, including motor fuel and vehicles. Adding products used in health care and higher education are a natural extension for Demand Pooling’s cost-saving platform.”
“We have a passion for enabling state and local governments to save money for all taxpayers,” said Aland.

“When cities, counties, or state governments set out to buy vehicles, for example, they sometimes are offered the opportunity to purchase pre-configured products from existing negotiated contracts,” said Michael Lanham, president and chief operating officer of Demand Pooling. “Demand Pooling enables them to select products on their own terms, and still benefit from the best possible pricing.”

Pools scheduled for 2008 include fuel, water treatment chemicals, police cars and transit buses.
