Firefighter treated after 2-alarm arson fire in Tenn.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Someone intentionally set a blaze early Monday that caused a two-alarm fire in South Knoxville, according to authorities.

The fire at 4712 Joe Lewis Road in the Montgomery Village housing development was reported about 1:13 a.m. by residents who said fire was coming from the building's roof, according to Knoxville Fire Department Capt. D.J. Corcoran.

Firefighters found the residents outside the building and flames coming through the roof of one side of the two-story, fourunit structure. Fire had begun to spread across the common attic shared by all four units, Corcoran said.

A second alarm was called in about 1:50 a.m., and the fire was ruled under control at 2:05 a.m.

According to Corcoran, residents said smoke alarms alerted them of the fire, and they were able to safely leave the building. A firefighter was treated for dehydration Monday.

Corcoran said the fire was determined to be "intentionally set."
