KILGORE, Texas — Standing in Kilgore's Central Fire Station, a group of firefighters bowed their heads Monday afternoon for a prayer led by a local pastor.

"Amen," they said, quietly and mostly in unison, before dispersing through the station with somber faces. The station and the city were recovering from the sudden deaths of two firefighters during a Sunday training exercise. Kyle Perkins, 45, and Cory Galloway, 23, died after falling eight stories off the roof of Stark Hall, a Kilgore College dormitory.

The investigation of the incident is ongoing.
