Basic Instinct

No, not the movie! We should always remember the basics of firefighting. We should also have the instinct to remember those basics and use them. The minute we stop thinking about what we are doing, we open ourselves to disaster.

The next time you are at a fire or emergency scene or even a drill, look around and watch what is going on and what emergency workers are doing. You will probably see things that could lead to disaster, injury or even death. Think about that and try to use your basic instinct all the time.
