NJ firefighter dies of heart attack at fire

Volunteer Firefighter Bruce Turcotte, 58, died at hospital after cardiac event; 1 civilian was found dead inside basement of home

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. — A volunteer firefighter died from a heart attack while he was working a fatal house fire Thursday in Woodbridge, N.J.

Firefighter Bruce Turcotte, 58, of the Hopelawn Volunteer Fire Department in Woodbridge, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died, according to NJ.com.

“Bruce was an outstanding firefighter and public servant,” Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac said. “He loved the fire company. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”

One other man was found dead in the basement of the wood-frame home, the article said.
