DENTON, Texas — Mike Bell, a 19-year veteran of the Denton Fire Department, died Sunday evening after battling a rare form of brain cancer.
Bell, who suffered from gliosarcoma brain cancer, served as a Denton firefighter and paramedic for 19 years and would have celebrated his 20th anniversary with the department at the end of January. In November, Denton firefighters rallied to shave their heads in support of their comrade to raise money for his medical expenses.
“You don’t get a better brotherhood than the fire department. These guys are great,” Bell told CBS 11 News just before he took a razor to his friends last month.

Rob GordonWednesday, December 26, 2012 8:36:11 PMI am terribly sorry to hear of the loss and my best wishes go out to the Firefighter Bell's family and friends. I lost my dad to fire service related brain cancer Feb. 3, 2006. A year before a local firefighter also lost a battle to brain cancer, before his passing he created a video for firefighter awareness I make my guys watch annually, and I feel all should watch.
