Miss. captain keeps job despite drug charges

By Amber Craig

MOSS POINT, Miss. — The city is giving a captain in the Fire Department a second chance after he was arrested last week on drug charges.

Rodger Mann was arrested Friday at his home and charged with simple possession of marijuana, possession of Loratab, possession of Lorcet and possession of drug paraphernalia. His arrest was one of several made by the Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County that evening.

The Board of Aldermen went into executive session Tuesday to discuss Mann's employment, and decided to give him six weeks' suspension, on the condition that he go through a drug rehabilitation program, Alderman Michael "Shorty" Middleton said Wednesday.
