Pa. fire captain dies of heart attack complications

CRANESVILLE, Pa. — A fire captain with the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department in Pa. died after suffering a heart attack within 24 hours of responding to an incident.

Capt. Walter Sumner, 49, was responding to an incident on Jan. 21 and then had the heart attack. He died from complications related to it while his company was on a relocation/fill-in/transfer detail.

Capt. Sumner had been a firefighter for 18 years.
