Va. firefighter dies after medical problem at scene


Duty Death: Jeffrey H. Reed - [Pulaski, Virginia]

PULASKI, Va. — A Virginia firefighter died Monday due to a medical issue suffered at the scene of a residential structure fire.

Firefighter Jeffrey H. Reed, 39, was operating a fire engine as the Pulaski Fire Department was mopping up the incident when he had to be taken to the hospital.

The nature of the fatal injury is still being investigated.

A funeral will be held for Firefighter Reed Friday, 11 a.m., at Stevens Funeral Home in Pulaski, followed by a procession with the Pulaski Fire Department.

Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Firefighter Reed, c/o Pulaski Fire Department, 117 N Jefferson AVE, Pulaski, VA 24301.
