NC firefighter dies following shift


Duty Death: Chad Eric Greene - [Kernersville, North Carolina]

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — A North Carolina firefighter died Wednesday after he was found unresponsive in his home.

Deputy Chief Eric Greene, 34, of Union Cross Fire and Rescue of Forsyth County, Inc., had dropped off his son at preschool and returned home shortly after responding to a motor vehicle accident at the end of his shift.

When Deputy Chief Greene's wife returned home, she found him unresponsive, called 911 and began CPR.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of death is still being investigated.

The funeral for Deputy Chief Greene will be held at 2 p.m., November 8, at Greene Street Baptist Church, High Point, North Carolina.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., November 7, at the same location.
