Vt. couple killed in home fire

MONTPELIER, Vt. — Police say an elderly Montpelier couple is dead following a late-night fire at their home.

more stories like thisPolice have identified the victims as 77-year-old Jay Gordon and his 72-year-old wife Joan.

Nine fire departments responded to their home on Deerfield Drive just after 10 p.m. Tuesday night.

When firefighters arrived three minutes after receiving the 911 call, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

Several hours later crews found the Gordons' bodies.

Firefighters and police are set to begin their investigation into the cause of the fire, but at this point it's not considered suspicious.
