2 dead, 8 hurt in N.Y. apartment blaze

The Associated Press

NEW YORK — Firefighters say a man and a boy have died in a Manhattan apartment building fire, possibly after jumping from a sixth-floor window.

Eight more people were taken to hospitals in stable condition Tuesday night. They include two firefighters.

There's no word on what started the fire on the fifth floor of a six-story building.

Firefighters say that the boy was about 5 or 6 years old. The man was 45.
