Baltimore fire chief announces resignation

Baltimore Fire Chief William J. Goodwin Jr., hailed for his early leadership but increasingly under pressure after a fatal training accident this year, has resigned.

Goodwin — a third-generation firefighter who has served as chief since 2002 — formally resigned yesterday afternoon, ending months of speculation over whether he would lose his job in the wake of the death Feb. 9 of Cadet Racheal M. Wilson.

Despite long speculation that Goodwin would be fired, the city mayor repeatedly indicated that she had confidence in him ... Full Story

City: McPherson County, Kan.
Cause: Chief Engdahl, 78, suffered a heart attack after a residential fire was brought under control and units were clearing the scene.

The way they throw ladders at fires is fantastic and the fact that they were able to rescue so many people shows their skill and dedication. My only concern is the lack of PPE ...
