Report on Charleston firefighter deaths expected in two weeks

A team of consultants investigating the deaths of nine Charleston firefighters at the Sofa Super Store plans to release its report in two weeks, according to the head of the expert panel.

The report had been expected as far back as December, and more recently it was anticipated by this week. The latest time frame would thrust the findings out just ahead of the fire's one-year anniversary, June 18.

That timing is likely to intensify emotions, particularly for the families and colleagues of the fallen firefighters ... Full Story

Oscar Wilde claimed that "the Americans and the British are identical in all respects except, of course, their language." The same can be said about the way we fight fires, as both can claim to be among the most advanced in the world. The UK has its advanced firefighting technology, while the United States and Canada have traditionally had a much wider tactical approach.
