DHS Announces Round 33 of AFG Grant Awards

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today the thirty-third round of Fiscal Year (FY) 2007 Assistance to Firefighters Grants, awarding 8 grants totaling over one million to fire departments throughout the United States.

The primary goal of the AFG grants is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical services organizations. Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
