Firefighters rescue pony from 8-foot-deep well

30 firefighters worked 6 hours to free the horse, who came out without a scratch

The Daily Mirror

SOMERSET, Ireland — More than 30 firefighters were needed to rescue a pony after it fell down a well.
Stricken pet Nova was found wedged 8 feet down the hole and chest deep in water.

Worried owner Grace Hilliar found the five-year-old after searching for the missing pony along with son Ignacio, six.

Mrs Hilliar, from Cary Fitzpaine, Somerset, called emergency services to the scene on Saturday morning.
Using specialist equipment, the rescue team took six hours to lift Nova to safety. She miraculously emerged from the well without a scratch.

Mrs Hilliar, 47, said: "We were worried she had been taken or fallen in the river."
