Wis. firefighter suffers fatal heart attack

ATHELSTANE, Wis. — An Athelstane volunteer firefighter suffered a fatal heart attack while battling a chimney fire in rural Marinette County late Thursday night.

Firefighter Bob Phillips, 64, was taken to a Marinette hospital where he was pronounced dead of an apparent heart attack, said Athelstane Fire Chief Scott Durian.

The fire at N11741 Taylor Road was reported at 11:20 p.m. by the homeowner, who was the only occupant at the time.
